Recently, Toyota has also announced its re-entry into the WRC with a tuned out Toyota Yaris and an expansion into the Australian racing market. The company has implemented a new “learning” racing series titled the Toyota Racing Series which is headed by two professional riders who aim to be mentors and competitors in helping up and coming racers develop their skills while vying for a prize pool of roughly $150,000.
As Toyota becomes more heavily involved with talent development, it could very well be that more local talent from Markham and the Greater Toronto Area gain the opportunity to race for Toyota one day. Who knows, with the Scion FR S, everyone can feel like a racing enthusiast driving down McCowan Road on the way to a nice drive in Milne Dam Conservation Area.
